Tether Base Installation
Swim Tether Base Installation
Installing the Swim Tether Base Plate in an existing concrete pool deck is straightforward and can typically be completed in under 30 minutes.
Tools & Materials (Step 1)
- Swim Tether Base Plate
- Hammer drill (corded recommended)
- 1-1/8” masonry drill bit (a 1” bit can work if you wallow out the hole)
- Hydraulic cement or a quality construction adhesive
- Tape measure
- Pencil / marker
- Marking tape

Placement Tips
- Optimal distance from water’s edge: 6–8 inches
- Other distances are fine if you compensate with a longer stretch cord
- Recommended location: shallow end
Measure & Mark
Determine the best install location and mark it. The optimal distance from the water’s edge is 6–8 inches. Install in the shallow end when possible.

Drill & Clean
Mark your drill bit with tape to indicate a drilling depth of 3 inches. Start slowly with the drill perpendicular to the surface and drill to your 3” mark. Clean out all dust and debris from the hole.

Check the Fit
Insert the Base Plate to test fit. If needed, wallow out or drill deeper until it seats easily and sits flush with the concrete surface. Don’t make it too tight—leave room for adhesive.
Set the Base Plate
Apply a generous amount of hydraulic cement or construction adhesive inside the hole and around the Base Plate stem. Press firmly and evenly into place while wiping away excess adhesive. Align the Swim Tether logo the way you want.
