The Basics
What Is Swim Tether?
A simple system that lets you swim in place — in any pool, any size. No jets. No current machine. No lap lane required.
The Short Version
Swim Tether is a resistance training system that mounts to your pool deck or swim spa. A fiberglass pole holds a stretch cord that clips to a comfortable belt around your waist. You swim against the cord's gentle resistance — staying in one spot while getting a full-body workout.
Think of it like a treadmill for your pool. You swim as hard or as easy as you want, and the cord keeps you in place. When you're done, unclip and you're free. The pole lifts out in seconds.
It works with every stroke — freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly — and it's completely silent. No motor, no power, no maintenance.
How It Works
Three parts. One simple setup. Swim in minutes.
Mount the Base
A small stainless steel base installs into your pool deck — concrete, wood, or swim spa. One hole, some adhesive or a bolt, and you're set. Takes about 20 minutes.
Drop In the Pole
The fiberglass pole slides into the base and lifts out just as easily. It flexes with your movement, keeping the cord elevated and out of your kick zone.
Clip In & Swim
Snap the stretch cord onto your belt, wade in, and start swimming. The cord holds you in place while you swim against smooth, progressive resistance.

What Does It Feel Like?
Smooth — that's the word most people use. The stretch cord provides progressive resistance, so the experience matches your effort. Take it easy and it's gentle, almost meditative. Push harder and it pushes back. Fair warning: most people underestimate how much energy it takes to sustain an all-out swim. Start easy. You'll find your pace.
The belt sits on your hips, not your waist, so it doesn't interfere with your breathing or rotation. Most swimmers forget it's there after the first few minutes.
Because the cord connects to an elevated pole (not the deck), it lifts away from your legs and stays completely out of your kick zone. No tangles, no drag on your kick.
