How It Works

Three choices. That's all it takes.

1

Pick Your Pole

Choose the model that matches your swimming style and pool size

2

Choose Your Base

Depends on your deck surface — concrete, wood, or swim spa

3

Select Your Cord

We'll recommend the right length based on your pool measurements

Step 1

Meet the Three Poles

Each model uses the same UV-resistant fiberglass and includes a belt, carabiner, and carry bag. The difference? Height, flex, and how the swim feels.

Step 2

Choose Your Base

The base is what anchors the pole to your deck. It takes 15 minutes to install and stays in place permanently — the pole drops in and out in seconds.

Concrete Deck Base

Drills into concrete, stone, or pavers. The most common choice — works with any concrete pool deck.

Works with: Concrete, stone, tile, pavers

Wood Deck Base

Made of 316 stainless steel. Drills into wood or composite decking and is secured with a heavy-duty nut (included).

Works with: Wood, composite, Trex, treated lumber

Arctic Spa Adapter

Threaded adapter that screws directly into the female threaded receiver built into Arctic Spas swim spas. No drilling or additional hardware required.

Works with: Arctic Spas swim spas with built-in threaded receiver

Step 3

Select Your Cord Length

This is the stretchy EPDM rubber cord that connects you to the pole. Don't worry — we make this easy.

Available Lengths

EPDM stretch cord, UV-resistant

4.5 ft 6 ft 8 ft 10 ft 12 ft 14 ft 16 ft 18 ft 20 ft

How do I know which length I need?

Short answer: you want the cord long enough to reach the middle of your swimming area with some stretch left over. Too short and you'll feel tugged back. Too long and there's no resistance.

Good news — our kit builder has a built-in calculator. Just enter the distance from the base to where you want to swim, and we'll recommend the right cord.

Tip: If you're between sizes, go one size longer. You can always clip the carabiner to a different loop to shorten the effective length.

Common Questions

Still on the fence? Here are the questions we get most.

What if I pick the wrong cord length? +
No stress — we offer free returns within 30 days. But our cord calculator is pretty accurate, and if you're between sizes, going one size longer gives you the most flexibility. Cords can also be DIY adjusted to a shorter length by unscrewing the end clips, cutting to size, and re-assembling.
Can I install the base myself? +
Yes! The concrete base needs a drill with a masonry bit (about 15 minutes). The wood deck base is also drill-in, secured with a heavy-duty nut that's included. The Arctic Spa Adapter simply threads into the built-in receiver on Arctic Spas — no drilling or extra hardware needed. We include step-by-step instructions with every order.
What's included in a kit? +
Every kit ships with your selected pole (or poles for multi-piece models), one stretch cord, a swim belt, an anodized aluminum carabiner, and a carry bag. Adding an install base is optional — choose one if you need it, or skip it if you already have one mounted.
Will it work in my pool? +
The Swim Tether works in virtually any pool — in-ground, above-ground, swim spas, and plunge pools. The key is having a solid surface near the water to mount the base. If your deck is concrete, wood, composite, or you have an Arctic Spa, you're all set.
What's the difference between the models? +
The ST3 is tallest with the most flex — feels closest to open-water swimming. The ST2 is a balanced mid-height option great for most people. The ST1 is short and rigid, designed for water aerobics and resistance exercises. See the full comparison →
